Hi, is it the time to reactivate the SQF System yet?

SQF system will be the next popular food certification service in the next future after the program has been managed through SQFI - A division of FMI.

Most of retailers based in USA and CANADA recognise SQF program especially the fresh produce one. The problem has found when it was imported from Mexico to US. Microbiological contamination was found. SQF concept is risk analysis under the HACCP principles will play the role to manage the food safety issue, e.g. microbiological, agro-chemical residue.

Most of US retailers have asked their suppliers to get the reports from the approved inspection bodies every year. But a pile of report has been left on the table only. So many formats, so many styles, so many incompetent inspectors. Once they change and give recognition to SQF program, it is easy to get one report format, easy to look in details. THAT IS THE WAY RETAILERS WANT.

I have heard that which standard get the recognition from retailers, it will be the popular one (like BRC. IFS). ISO 22000 starting from LRCA not the interested parties especially retailer, food manufacturer, food association. YES, it may popular in one day but the other retailer standards still be requested.
