I'm in the process of gathering BRC/IOP certificates and Evaluation Summaries for each of my companies 150(+) packaging suppliers.
One of the certification bodies is Probita - who I note are not listed in your supplier directory.

As a customer, I'm looking for the UKAS accreditation, so that my company can move away from routine auditing, and put our faith into an independent auditor.

Do any packaging manufacturers have any criteria / guidelines they work to when looking to employ the services of a certification body?

Does anyone know the current status of Probita with regard to UKAS accreditation?

Hi Fiona,

It's very encouraging that large food organisations like yours are putting faith in the BRC/IoP Packaging Standard. It's deserved payback for the packaging companies for all the hard work, time and money they have put into achieving the standard.

I don't think Probita were in the initial pilot scheme and they were definitely not amongst the organisations who achieved accreditation in January - see press release below:

UKAS Announce Certification Bodies

UKAS now offer a handy directory of Accredited Certification Bodies on their website and I cannot see Probita on there either - the other BRC/IoP's are:

UKAS Certification Body Directory

With regard to criteria for choosing the Certification Body:

1. UKAS Accredited
2. Money
3. Money
4. Money

No our choice was to go with the same Certification Body who do the BRC Global Food Certification for our largest customer. Basically because they are more likely to trust the results and for a few extra brownie points...
