Hi everyone,

I have some question regarding the locations of the battery charging areas.
I thought there must be a separate regulation within the BRC standard regarding the location of the battery charging areas.
I can't find this rule in the latest version (5) of the BRC food standard. I thought this was mentioned in earlier versions of this standard.
The rules within this standards are more based on the risk assesment.

But in the BRC S&D it is (still) mentioned. See notification below.

S3.3.1

Battery charging areas shall be segregated away from product storage areas.

I'm interrested if there is any notification regarding the battery charging area within the BRC (and IFS) food standard at the moment

Many thanks in advance for your answer(s)

Dear PAL,

Took me a while to deduce S&D stands for storage and distribution presumably.

I did a word search for "battery" and "charging" in brc food ver4 which gave 0 hits
I did a similar search in a document claiming to contain all major changes from ver4 to 5 which also gave 0 hits.
So you are probably correct for BRC food ver5.

IFS, regret hv no idea.

I think many companies do the charging in a remote section of the container loading area. I suppose that qualifies for "segregated away" if there is no loading at the time, eg at night perhaps !

Kind Regards,
