Do you mean what types of process control checks to do?

If so these are some to include:

Pinholes
Dimensional attributes - size, radius of curvature, overlap etc
Laquer weight and integrity
Compound weight and application
Metal inclusion
Print quality

There are more but I can't remember what they are at the moment. I am not from the canning industry, but I know there are canning experts who visit these fora and hopefully they will give a more complete picture (JD?)

Some of these are carried out 100% by in line vision systems and some are off line

Dear Foodworker, Simon and list,

Thanks once again for replying to my query. In canning industry, 'ends' are referred to 'can lids'.

Would like to know the parameters involved.

Best Regards,
Sujit

I hate to necropost and I'm sure the OP is long gone, but for the benefit of anyon else who stumbles upon this thread, I believe what Sujit was looking for was something describing the technical specifications of can ends. These are contained in the Can Standards Manual published by the Can Manufacturers Institute . I'm not affiliated and actually not in that industry at all, but came here looking for some other information regarding canning and stumbled upon Sujit's post.

Dear mredmond,

Any input is well received. Welcome to the forum ! :welcome:

Looks a useful document. Pity about the $50 though.
