Hi There,
I have just noticed that there is a release 3 for the BRC/IOP.
Are there major changes from the First Version (Issued in October 2001)? Have also noticed the price went down to from 99 Pounds to 75 now. A real bargain ...
The BRC Food Standard will also shortly be available in German, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, French, Norwegian, Dutch.
Does it seem that it will be adopted there too, or this is only for suppliers to the British market ?
Moshes

Hello,

I'm afraid that there's a misunderstanding - the mixing up of different Standards: food versus packaging material, but both serving the same goal i.e. food safety):

1. BRC Technical Food Standard v3 (indeed the third version; language versions: see TSO -- The Stationery Office: http://www.tso.co.uk

2. BRC/IoP Technical Packaging Standard. The first version is now available at TSO in more than one language.

As a matter of fact I was involved in translating both Standards to Dutch.

One might take a look at http://www.foodfocus.nl

Regards,

Hi,

Jan's quite right:

The BRC Food Standard is on Version 3.

The BRC/IoP Packaging Standard is on Version 1. (SEE NOTE)

Both standards are becoming available in other European Languages, the following link will take you to the page on the TSO website where the BRC/IoP Packaging Standard can be purchased in English and other languages: http://www.tso.co.uk...ctID=0117028428

Moshes you asked:
"The BRC Food Standard will also shortly be available in German, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, French, Norwegian, Dutch.
Does it seem that it will be adopted there too, or this is only for suppliers to the British market ?"

It definitely does apply if you supply to the UK Retailers. I think that the standards may well be adopted Europe-wide/world-wide in the future but possibly under different names within their own countries - understandable really.

NOTE: Important changes to The BRC/IoP Packaging Standard are imminent although as yet nothing official has been released by the BRC into a public domain. We hope to be able to provide details as soon as they become available.

Kind Regards,
Simon

Hi there,

Have you noticed that Pira International are holding a seminar called an 'Update on Food Packaging Hygiene' on 13/2/03 in Leatherhead Surrey.

This includes information on the BRC/IOP standard.

I myself cannot go, but I think it would be very interesting and would answer most of the questions that I know we would all like to ask, but may seem trival.

In fact I have ordered the Proceedings Pack from the seminar, 'Update on Food Packaging Hygiene' which costs £75 pounds. If anyone else is interested the contact I have is Sarah Stevens Saras@pira.co.uk

Kind regards,

Simon

Hi Aisling,

I am going to the seminar in Leatherhead next week. I have set up a seperate thread for you (or anyone else) to post your "trivial" questions and I will do my best to get answers and report back.

Regards,
Simon
