Introducing IFS PACsecure

George Gansner, Director, Global Marketing & Business Development Manager, Americas, IFS Management GmbH.

IFS PACsecure was developed to provide packaging manufacturers the ability to assure their customers that their products are food-safe and they have processes in place to significantly reduce potential issues related to food safety around packaging materials. This session will examine various aspects of food safety as it relates to packaging as well as the benefits it offers to food processors. It will also identify procedures to become certified to the IFS PACsecure standard.

Thank you to all of you who attended the Webinar today - Introducing IFS PACsecure. There were several questions Simon listed above that I will answer here. I'm available for more questions on the IFSQN forum or by e-mail at gansner@ifs-certification.com.

Why is IFS not in Africa?
IFS is in Africa. We've done training in Nigeria and have certifications in several African States including South Africa. Please contact me directly for more information. Currently, our activities in Africa are managed through our European offices.

What is the recognition and acceptability of IFS Pac secure on country specific accreditation board
I don't fully understand the question. Could you please contact me offline via e-mail and then I'll come back here to answer so everyone can see the answer. However, currently ANSI in the USA is capable of accrediting IFS PACsecure for CBs, and UKAS and DAKKS have also contacted IFS regarding accreditation programs.

Highly focused presentation
As we are introducing IFS PACsecure globally, we cleared with IFSQN that we would provide a more focused presentation than was generally expected during today's Food Safety Live event. There are very clear benefits of IFS PACsecure with regard to standard development and tools offered for implementation.

How does your standard compare to BRC?
Please contact me by e-mail and I will be happy to provide a comparison that was developed by a company who recently compared the standards and provided us with their comparison and reasons behind choosing IFS PACsecure over BRC IoP.

Is an auditor eligible for ISO 22000 audits eligible for IFS food audits?
Requirements to become an IFS auditor are documented in our standards and the requirements vary by standard, of course. As an eligible ISO 22000 auditor, you have a good start at becoming an IFS auditor, but the requirements are significantly more. Please review the IFS Food v6 standard for the specific requirements and contact me or a certification body for more information, if needed.

How and where to get the training calendar for auditors?
Visit our Facebook page by logging into Facebook and searching for International Featured Standards. Our training courses are listed there, and on our Website - www.ifs-certification.com. You may also contact an IFS certification body for the latest information.

Would it possible to integrate this program with other standards in place?
The easy answer is yes, but you will have to be aware of potential gaps. Please make sure you download the standard for free from our Website - www.ifs-certification.com - and review the systems you have in place with the requirements in the IFS PACsecure standard. Feel free to contact me directly if you need more information.
