Hi all,

We are reviewing our sanitizing chemicals based on our recent auditor comment regarding 'bacterial adaptaion'. As time being we are using Bacfree 3-931 applied for hand washing, klen 1402 for food contact surface cleaning and pynosect for fooging and insecticide spray. We are from tuna canning company. Which chemicals are most effective and common brand for replacing above mentioned chemicals? Pls help

Thankyou

Dear Jasim,

Out of curiosity, what was the auditor's comment ? If it was merely that bacteria adapt, this is 101 microbiology and somewhat meaningless unless in a particular context. :smile:

Bacfree = chemically ?

klen = ?

pynosect = ?

IMEX, most food compatible handwashing products are >=75% generically similar.

One obvious potential difficulty is that items available in the Maldives may not match elsewhere.

Dear Charles,

The auditor comment was 'bacteria can adapt to a particular sanitizing chemical by long term continous use'. Also he added bio film formation possibilty. Still above mentioned chemicals showing good result based on microbilogy analysis. But we are thinking to use two diffrent brands of hand wash, sanitizing liquid and fogging/spray chemical.

Bac free : Hand wash liquid brand name.

Klen: Factory cleaning chemical.

Pynosect: Fogging / spray chemical.

Dear Jasim,

The terminologies can be confusing but IMEX a "cleaning chemical" for food contact surfaces frequently (but not 100% of time)  excludes a specific  microbiocidal action such as offered by hypochlorites, etc. ie does not act as a "sanitizing" chemical. hence my query.

Most auditors IMEX expect a knowledge of the major active chemical components of the 3 + items you mentioned to be available on request although not necessarily the specific concentrations. Personally I would not consider using such chemicals without such data. Also acts as an effective deterrent to door-to-door salespeople. :smile:
