Hi!

I work in a dry environment, and our floor is concrete.  We are switching to steel toed boots, which many employes dislike (but I LOVE  !).  I'd like to make the employees more comfortable at their work stations and put out anti-fatigue mats.  I'm concerned about their cleaning and also the trip hazard aspect this introduces.

We don't have a lot of dust and I believe employees would move them daily to clean the floor.  Our product has a very low moisture content and therefore a low risk for salonmella and listeria, plus the dry environment.  I'm just hesitant because ...stuff... gets under there.  And it's stuff from employee shoes.  And we don't have a captive footwear program.  Mats always end up kind of gross.

Do any of you use anti-fatigue mats?  Do you control them (either documentation or 3rd party cleaners)?  Maybe casual environmental testing? Would a floor cleaning SOP that includes removing the mats before sweeping cover GFSI auditing requirements, or would I need more?

We use those in our factory. I have included these in my daily cleaning program. I did not develop separate cleaning procedure as they fall under general cleaning. And we are SQF Level 2 Certified since last 4 years.

We are in a wet/cool facility and have concrete flooring and anti-fatigue mats, also. We have the third shift sanitation dept thoroughly clean them daily. We have not added them to our Listeria testing areas, but we do have other floor contacts on the list.

SQF Level 2 also.

I've had them in many facilities and they were built into the sanitation program.  Never had any problems with them and auditors did not give them much thought as they were built into the program and we were able to show they were being dealt with.

should these mats be breathable, mesh, drain-able or can they be solid foam?

Either way know they shall be washed on nightly basis, and documented.

Thanks.

Ours are part of our daily post operational sanitation. They are removed from the area, someone cleans all the mats some one cleans the floors where the mats were.
