Hi,

i would just like to ask what is IFS' requirement on product retention. Is it product shelf life + 1 year?

Thanks,

Hi Maddox,

That reference is applicable to records:

'2.1.2.3 All records shall be kept in accordance with legal requirements and for a minimum of one year after the shelf life'

IFS has references to shelf life but not product retention:

'4.3.3 Shelf life tests or adequate processes shall be carried out.......
4.3.4 When establishing and validating the shelf life...... organoleptic tests shall also be taken into'

Normally I would keep samples of long life products to end of life plus a couple of weeks to allow for any last minute complaints.

Regards,

Tony
