Thought i would share this.

Issue 7 of the Food Safety Standard will be published in January 2015 and audits against it will begin in July 2015.

Feel free to get back to me if you have further questions.

Hi Stefano

Yes! I would like to see a copy of the draft but it seems to have been taken down. Can I get one from somewhere?

Thanks

Hi,

I also noticed it dissapeared from BRC website, but had it saved - hope it'll help!

I see that the word "integrity" has been added to several clauses in Issue 7.....anyone know how the BRC will define that? How is integrity different from quality?

Thanks!

Is it to do with not substituting ingredients etc? So it contains EXACTLY what you said it does?

Hellow from a warm and sunny Denmark

Our auditor in March mentioned integrity and her definition was " how anyone can mess with your product". She was talking about access to premises - but I would include (as mentioned earlier) the risk of mishandling our rawmaterials (eg. our marinated herrings in plastbarrels all the way from Norway....anyone lift the lid and put arsenic in it..)...

Dear Bill,

I suspect it's intended to function similarly to US terms like  "adulteration" / "unwholesome" but with a positive spin. Similarly, it would appear to be open-ended, scope-wise.

As to the difference from "quality", first you need to define "quality".

BRC 7 draft reaches the ultimate stages and will be published in January 2015 together with audits starting up July 2015. The BRC doing work group regarding issue 7 has now completed the final write up on the latest standard, taking into account comments on Issue 6,

Hi All

I'm still very new at BRC and this ( 5 months - got my A grade last week). I was just wondering if I could still get hold of the Issue 7 BRC draft maby. Now that I know more about BRC it would be nice to read through issue 7 before going on training in Nov.

To me, the big difference in this version is point 3.5.1.2, about suppliers approval.  Questionnaries to approve suppliers are not allowed, and almost all of them should be audit or having BRC certificate or similar.

I think it will be a big problem form many small businesses.

Huge challenge/problem. From what I gather from the BRC Americas conference in San Antonio, TX over here: the Issue 7 draft 4 can pretty much be taken for gospel already.

3.5.1.2: ''The company shall have a documented supplier approval and ongoing monitoring procedure to ensure that all suppliers of raw materials and packagingare manufacturing products under hygienic conditions, effectively manage risks to raw material quality and safety and are operating effective traceability processes. The approval and monitoring procedure shall be based on risk and include one or a combination of:
 certification, e.g. to BRC Global Standards
• supplier audits with a scope to include product safety, traceability, HACCP review and good manufacturing practices undertaken by an experienced and demonstrably competent product safety auditor -
Or for suppliers assessed as low risk only
• supplier questionnaires.
Where approval is based on questionnaires, these shall be reissued at least every three years and suppliers required to notify the site of any significant changes in the interim.
The site shall have an up to date list of approved suppliers.''

Sincerely, I see that questionnaire is still allowed  for low risk assessed suppliers, according to the last paragraph above, am I right?
