What if you are given a document that is illegible during review? For example, one with scratch outs or blacked out or white out? How do you guys handle it?

Seems a duplicate question.

Take corrective actions and document them.  It is better that you find it than an auditor or gov. inspector.  They are generally cognizant that people aren't perfect and expect a number of mistakes to be made and corrected.

The depth of the corrective actions will likely depend on what the document is, and if this is a first occurrence or repeat.
