Today, FSSC 22000 published its brand new Quality Module and a revised set of scheme documents version 3.2, to include Animal Production in its certification scope.

FSSC 22000 Quality Module

Today, we published FSSC 22000-Q: a new voluntary module for the certification of Food Quality Management Systems in compliance with ISO 9001:2008. This addition will give organizations the possibility to be FSSC 22000 audited and certified for both Food Safety and Quality Management Systems. Organizations can choose to be audited for food safety only or to have the QMS module added to FSSC 22000 certification by means of one integrated audit for Food Safety and Quality Management Systems.

Animal Production

Seperately, we published a complete set of new scheme documents, version 3.2, to include Animal Production in complience with ISO/TS 22002-3: 2011, Prerequisite programmes on food safety – Part 3: Farming. The FSSC 22000 scope is limited to farming animals, fish and the on farm primary production of animal products (e.g. milk, fish, eggs, honey).

In scheme document Part I, two new additional requirements to become certified are included. First, Management of natural resources such as water and soil with regard to animal production. Second, Food defence, bio vigilance and bioterrorism (extension to animal production). Certification Bodies need to comply with the mandatory auditor competence requirements (FSSC scheme documents Part II). The new scheme documents also include the link with the voluntary FSSC 22000-Q Module.

More

Certification Bodies can apply for a license to deliver FSSC 22000–Q and/or Animal Production certification. To become a licensed CB, the standard procedure applies.

The GFSI recognized version 3 remains applicable to the certification of Food Manufacturing and Food Packaging. Version 3.1 remains applicable to the certification of Animal Feed. All versions of all scheme documents are publicly available here.
