I have a restroom door that opens directly into the production area and is built in such a way that there is no room to add a partition or wall and I wanted to know if BRC would accept using an overhead air curtain blowing directly down over the door to the rest room as an alternative? Anyone have this problem? if so did the BRC audit permit the alternative or not?

Currently we have issues the way our restrooms/changing rooms are set up, based on SQF standards. We were informed that these structural issues can be worked out by basically asking for exemption. Obviously they'll want proof of your attempt to control this clear deficiency but they can make certain areas exempt.  

 

I am not fully aware of how this all works OR if the BRC allows for similar but I would assume they do something similar and to look into this process.

Not surprisingly this has come up several times and for, i think, several standards. Companies never have enough space.

 

From memory the usual conclusion was that such a direct connection is simply, auditorially,  indefensible.
