First, I should make a checklist of all the questions for each area and then conduct audits, eg. In the laboratory and choose the questions to the area from the list?

Hi Patrico,

There are a variety of ways of  meeting BRC’s requirements for section 3.4.

It is crucial IMO to continuously refer to the Section’s Intent, viz. –

FUNDAMENTAL

The company shall be able to demonstrate it verifies the effective application of the food safety plan and the implementation of the requirements of the Global Standard for Food Safety.

The practical meaning of above is literally spelled out in section 1 of the attachment/post 24 (note that this was originally issued for BRC6 so maybe one or two text changes have occurred,  eg audit spread over the year).

IMO the simplest approach (but definitely not the only option) is to base yr internal audit (IA) on the total list of sections/clauses in the BRC 7 standard.

This should enable compliance of the IA to the scope  as mentioned in Section 1 of attachment, assuming  your audit procedure is based on the 2 specified steps.

Sections 1-4 of the attachment illustrate how to schedule / carry out the IA if initially focused as above.

Examples of  risk-based approaches for designing the audit schedule are referenced in my Post 8.

An example to illustrate some  key factors which were considered necessary  to be handled for compliance to clauses in the BRC6 standard are shown in the Excel matrix attached in this earlier post –

http://www.ifsqn.com...ada/#entry89562

An example of a (condensed) audit checklist for BRC6 in excel format (Marshall) is attached  here –

http://www.ifsqn.com...indpost&p=55338

You previously asked about “question format “. I have edited the list in yr earlier post 18 as questions and result is attached below. As you can see, it’s not so difficult.

Attached File  Question - Audit Checklist 1 Senior Management Commitment 7.doc   272.5KB   97 downloads

For example I chosen Chemical and Physical contamination.
How can I ask questions?

The specific question/response may relate to the specific clause (?).

The response will presumably require  evidence  of your compliance to the question, for example see the Appendix examples in my attachment / post 24.

A very large number of potential questions are given in this attachment –

Attached File  BRC6-SQF7.2-ISO22000-Codex-Compilation of questions cross-indexed to FS clauses.pdf   336.71KB   103 downloads

PS -

Can I make BRC audit with IFS in the same time?

I rather doubt that the IFS requirements are the same as for BRC ?

Kind Regards,

Charles.C

Hello Everyone!

Thanks for the help

I have a question... :D

Do I need to do an audit of each area in the company with Compatibility BRC ? Or not?

Can I make one audit of the entire area of the company?

Best Regards,
Patrico

Hi Patrico, Your audits must cover all departments that are under the scope of BRC Certification, however, it does not matter how you do it so long as you are auditing all the food safety and quality policies, procedures and practices at a suitable frequency based on risk assessment.

Simon

While we hope that this tool is useful in helping you prepare for your audit it should not be considered as evidence of an internal audit and will not be accepted by auditors during an audit.

I was literally about to say that...

Can I make BRC audit with IFS in the same time?

When we do internal audits we take the section of BRC and then try and find applicable sections in retailer codes of practice at the same time.  This means we are more time efficient as some clauses are very similar; some build on the BRC standard and others have subtle differences in wording.  So yes I would think you could audit against more than one standard at once.

1. Create an audit schedule ( see example attached)

2. Risk assess each section to determine frequency of audit ( see example attached)

3. Create Checklists from the sections of your Food Safety Manual. ( See example attached for HACCP Internal Audit).

4. Carry on doing this each month until you have a full set ensuring that  you incorporate both standards into the checklists.

5. Carry out the Internal audits , recording evidence on the checklists and recording non-conformances on the Internal Audit report.

6. In discussion with management assign a timescale and responsibility for corrective actions.

7. Verify that corrective actions have been carried out within the timescale and sign off on the audit.

8. Reuse the checklists , you can change them when new issues of the standards are released.

9. Yes this is a lot of work .........
