Hi Larry,

The specific meaning of food-grade (FG) can vary with the item/situation/location, eg as used for ingredient, lubricant, packaging etc .

A typical requirement within a FG "label"  as applied to non-food items within the manufacturing environment is that direct/indirect  "contact" with a food product  does not generate a significant contamination regarding the latter's quality/safety. "Contact" is further defined  for some items like lubricants.

IMEX detergents are more likely to be supplier-categorized by validatable text  like "approved for use" in a food processing  environment but options/subtleties vary with location, eg "no rinse sanitizers". I think many (all?) countries require detergents intended to be used in a food manufacturing facility to be officially registered/numbered and identified via, for example, MSDS documentation etc.

Maybe try a Google, the results can be interesting.  .

Kind Regards,

Charles.C
