Hello everyone.

Can anyone share how to prepare 60 microM of DPPH in order to determine antioxidant activity?

Thank you

Hello everyone.

Hi rossy,

I assume you are familiar with diluting techniques.

I assume you are not requiring ultimate accuracies, otherwise maybe read this link –

http://www.pharmtech...-your-dilutions

http://chemistry.sta...olutions-method

M = molar

mM = millimolar

mcM = micromolar

Afaik, the MW of DPPH is 394.33g

A 1 molar solution is a solution in which 1 mole of a compound is dissolved in a total volume of 1 litre.

A 1 molar solution DPPH will require 394.33g in 1 litre of solution

Approximately –

Weigh 0.394g of DPPH, dissolve  and make up to 1000ml with solvent = 1mMsolution DPPH = "A"

Pipette 1ml of A and make up to 1000ml with solvent = 1mcM solution = "B"

60ml of B will contain 60micromoles of DPPH

Kind Regards,

Charles.C
