What is your finished product? Halal certification depends a great deal on your particular finished goods in regards to what it would entail

We produce poultry, we only need to prove we are slaughtering by hand by "a person who has been baptized" regardless of faith

What is your countries requirements for labelling if there are any?

Hi redfox,

We had one a couple of months ago. We're juice suppliers and it was for our retail fruit juices. We provided the standard information showing that the raw materials were Halal, factory and warehouse inspection and performed a traceability exercise. The whole of the audit was very similar to an organic audit, with the segregation, cleaning materials and CIP requirements. I don't think there were any significant differences.

Of course, there's not a lot to go wrong with fruit juice bottling in an audit like this.

Hello scampi,

We are producing pasteurized crab meat. It is wild-caught and hand-picked. About labeling requirements in our country, it is mostly patterned from USFDA. This halal audit is market driven coz our customer in ME required us to have halal certification. As per customer, no product can enter Dubai this coming December without Halal logo.

Thank you both scampi and BrummyJim for these pointers.

regards,
redfox

Hi Redfox,

From my experience, normally, the halal auditor will check on the material, processing, equipment and tools, chemical use in process, cleanliness of process area and premise, personal hygiene....but depends on auditor and country.

Example:

If you using the chemical e.g. lubricant, cleaning agent, they might ask the halal certificate. If there is brush, you cannot use the natural bristles in the premise. No non-halal food in the premise and process area.

If no halal certificate for the material or chemical, they will request the detail product specification including the flow process.

Hello,

We've been audited yesterday, and it went smoothly though some minor findings that had been raised like mosquito and feather in warehouse. They also (auditors) went to our raw materials supplier to check the processing of raw materials before it is delivered to our plant.

Thank you all guys for the best informations.

regards,

redfox

Although this is late:

My experience during Halal Audits there were mostly concerns your ingredients, and facilities.

Ingredients:- Have a halal certification, Supplier Audits, Flow process.
