Hi,

I have been in the industry for over 10 years. Wanted to expand my background, and wanted to see what everyone's thought is on Six Sigma for a Quality Assurance Manager with direct contact food packaging.

Its a investment and I just want to make the right choice.

thanks,

I think six sigma is a good program as it forces you to look at the world a little differently (or a lot depending on background and experience) You're employer isn't paying? It can be a lifetime project if your going on your own. I am a green belt but have changed employers and I wouldn't pay on my own if the company I work (or want to work for) doesn't see the value for money

I have just got my Green belt certification though BMGI, Im currently looking into Black belt, for me this is the most important and useful training I have done, Variation is evil and Lean Six Sigma is a fantastic tool to help you reduce variation in your processes and improve your product.

The good thing about Six Sigma program is it helps to support continuous improvement. Just by learning and having a Green Belt myself, I do felt that I am able to evaluate a projects and also, to seek different types of implementation strategies to work to achieve the goal and sustain the expected project outcome.

It would definitely be an asset to any company to imply some type of Six Sigma program, whether it is to reduce cost or increase effectiveness or productivity.

Hope it helps.
