Hi,

I am having problems to figure out hoe validations are performed on magnets. Has someone a validation report to share?.

Mostly of the times I see pull strength test but this is part of the verification magnet program isn't it?. Pull strength kits are not certified by the way.

Thanks for your help!!

GD

Hi giseladenise,

Unfortunately Va/Ve have a multitude of interpretations. Is there a particular FS standard involved ?

addendum,

I suggest you have a look at the thread linked below which discusses the pros/cons of various technical options in some detail.

http://www.ifsqn.com...n-a-flour-mill/

Accordingly the context may be relevant, eg product/process/status of control measure/FS standard and more than one interpretation/action may be possible.

If you have a CCP/traditional haccp, yr query is effectively validation of a critical limit. If yr FS standard is fssc22000, the control measure is likely a PRP.

A possibly analogous generic Va/Ve situation (sieve/metal detector) is detailed in this attachment (Pg 13 et seq) -

Hello,

Validation can be through the magnet supplier with their guaranty of magnet strength over a certain time period, as well as, your historical observations and findings on the magnets through their use.  Such as, are the magnet pulling a lot of metal material out or not.  Where is the metal coming from?  Documenting the history of that usage.

Verification would be conducting pull strength tests on the magnets.  There is a specific procedure for this and your magnet supplier should be able to help you with an SOP.

Ryan
