We are formulating an ingredient that will be sold in the UK. The co-packer has sent a survey in which we need to denote whether our blend complies with certain EU legislation. This is my first foray into an EU regulated product. The ingredients that compose the blend all have assigned EU numbers, does that mean they comply with all of the regulations?

The legislation is as follows:

Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003

Regulation (EC) No 1830/2003

Regulation (EU) No 420/2011

Regulation (EU) No 165/2010

Directive 1999/3/EC

Regulation (EC) No 999/2001

Regulation (EU) No 592/2012

Regulation (EU) No 594/2012

Council Directive 88/344/EEC

Regulation (EU) No 252/2011

Regulation 9EU) No 253/2011

Any help would me much appreciated!

Hi snvh,

An example would assist but I daresay the number you quote is taken from the EU list of chemicals approved to be used as food ingredients, additives etc.

Compliance with the various regs you quote presumably requires ingredient specifications/COAs and maybe other things as detailed in the regs.

For example, reg. (EU) No 594/2012 relates to max. levels of various contaminants, eg ochratoxinA, melamine, etc

Kind Regards,

Hello,

You can find all of These regulations on the official Website http://eur-lex.europ....html?locale=en.

If the numbers you refer to are additives number (E150a, etc.), you will find their specific Regulation in the EG 1333-2008 and EU 231-2012.

Regards,

Pauline

Hi Pauline,

Hopefully yr links will reiterate the list of regs in the OP. As you say, it's all about the numbers.

Kind Regards,
