I was hoping to get some thoughts and input on how to handle a warehouse that has a ceiling that is clear plastic over insulation.  The blending and packaging areas have finished ceilings and walls, but this organization does not have the funds to have the warehouse ceiling finished.

They have had customers comment on the appearance of the insulation that is a mixture of a yellow and black color.  The concern is that it looks like mold.  I have asked that they get a scissor lift so we can collect some samples to ensure that it isn't mold.

I'm just wondering how some of you might go about handling this.  What methods can be used to aid in a risk assessment, what procedures can be put in place to minimize concerns that a potential customer or auditor might have.

Thank you in advance.

I can almost guarantee that you will find mold in the insulation......insulation is a great breeding ground for it.

You could tarp the ceiling with black plastic instead, but that is just a cover up for the problem---it will still exist.

Is there air flowing to the warehouse or from it?

Is the warehouse compltely closed off from the rest of the facility

are you performing finished product testing and if so are you testing for mold

can you run an air test kit to ensure that the air is free of contamination

Can you price out options for covering the ceiling?  Can't it at least be clad in plywood and painted with a plastic resin paint that isn't susceptible to peeling/flaking
