Hello everyone,

I have been reading a lot of information regarding canola oil versus rapeseed oil.

From what I understand canola oil derives from GMO rapeseed oil.

It was done so that the level of erucic acid and glucosilates were to be reduced.

Now, with all the issues regarding palm oil, what can we do to decide which is the best choice to make.

Some of our products have palm in it and some rapeseed.

What information is actually true abou canola/rapeseed?

Thanks

regards

Maria João Cardoso

The information you read is correct. Canola is an engineered derivative of rapeseed.

But the principle we usually compare canola oil and palm oil is somewhat irrelevant. Something like mixing apples and oranges. Canola oil is a GMO while palm oil is a major health concern due to its high content of saturated fats. Particularly, high concentration of palmitic acid is said to have severe cholesterolemic effects.
