Recently I saw in a Restaurant in Goa, India, stainless steel bottles ( insulated inside to keep hot and cold temp.) filled with water provided on the tables with glasses.  The bottles are narrow -mouthed ( maybe about 30 mm dia) and about 1000 ml capacity ( almost 14 to 16 inches tall). I feel that the risk of Food Hazard entry in this type of bottles is high unless you have a strong standard operating procedure for washing, inspection and stock rotation. Normally I see only glasses in restaurants for provided drinking water in India. Wide mouthed Water jugs are provided in the rooms.  I would like the members" views. .

Anything is fine as long as it's cleaned at some frequency. For those I'd say probably daily, water likes to grow mold and if exposed to air it's there. The stainless steel construction does make it harder to verify cleanliness as well.

If one is concerned over safety, seems simpler to purchase sealed, branded, bottled water carrying an official, certified, drinking water logo. Normally a fraction of the cost of the food.
