Hi, all, what are the opportunities and challenges of implementing a Food Defense Program?

Would like to seek opinions from all the experts here.

Thanks!

Dear Jasonmah,

Under the opportunities you can create a safer environment for the people. If that is presented in the right way, this will be appreciated, what results in more personnel engangement.

Challenges:

  • Old habits which needs to be sorted out (Like receiving the usual post deliverer, frequent deliveries by the same company, service companies)
  • The classic question: until where food truck drivers may enter in your premises?
  • Training of your personnel, to get people used to this new approach and way of thinking

I hope this gives some inspiration.

Kind regards,

Gerard Heerkens

From my point of view there are two new aspects to consider as part of the risk assessment evaluation:

a.- The assessment must also consider the possibility of an inside attacker. (21 CFR 121.130(b))

b.- For each point, step or procedure, you must also provide an explanation as to why that point, step, or procedure was or was not identified as an actionable process step. (21 CFR 121.130©)

There is not a clear definition on the insider attacker profiling.
