Does anyone have protocols for this?

I would think light wrap or long sleeves required for 1-2 weeks.

Hi Dale, ultimately its a self inflected wound so follow the same procedure as you would if it was accidental. It takes longer than 2 weeks for the tattoo to heal and and skin drops off so depending on where it is will depend on what you need to do. If you are in a low care / high care senario, move the person to a place of least risk to your product. Tattoo's itch people pick them so opens up a mind field of skin dropping off. What are your rules on eczema? Again flakey skin so may help make a decision on what to do.

What ever the decision its probably the opposite to what the person needs to do heal the tattoo so monitor what they are doing occasionally to cover yourself as they might want to remove a covering to give it air.
