One of our Supplier imports herbs and spices from all over the world and sells mostly in bulk across New Zealand.  the PIF attached. Our  Product development team has already approved the ingredient.

To approve this raw material,

  1. What necessary questions and additional documents  to ask from the supplier before approving the ingredient?
  2. Is there any specific section in PIF to be considered prior to approval?

Huge thanks

Hi biodream,

I'm working on the assumption that you're BRC based on this being in a BRC part of the forum. You need to know the last processor of the material (repack, drier etc.) so you can approve them. If your supplier is BRC A&B, than it is not mandatory, but with BRC 8 FS coming soon you will need to know more about the supply chain.

Remember you are not just approving the material, you're also approving the last processor, not the supplier.
