Cans are rusted after retorting. What could be the cause?

Hi Linekela,

The (obvious) thought is inferior metal / coating

Kind Regards,

Is this a recycled water supply in which possibly you are treating and chlorine/chlorine dioxide levels possibly too high thus causing corrosion?

I think it can have more reasons.

1. Cans could be damaged/streaked by previous steps such like seaming. (You have to closely look at every step before retorting)

2. NaCl and Chlorine level of water you used for can cooling.

3. Quality of outer coat of the can.

Hope you have understand those.
