I am interested in new ideas to help me with Food Safety related training at our facility. I perform bi-monthly training 10 months out of the year to different groups of 10 to 30 at a time. It is challenging to come up with interesting training on the same topics. The class is and 8 hour class of which I have 1 hour. People are given a lot of information on this day and I want to make mine interesting enough that it is remembered. I appreciate any help that I can get from you.

Thanks

Hi GEEMP,

:welcome:

Welcome to the IFSQN forums.

I'm sure you'll get a few ideas from the forums, I include some food safety news headlines and pictures of gruesome things found in food to add a bit interest and debate.

Kind regards,

Tony

Good morning GEEMP - welcome.

At one point in the past I worked as a food safety auditor/trainer for a chain of wholesale clubs and like you one of things we did outside of auditing was to conduct training on the same topics, every month to the same audience - I had about 30 minutes per club for training and I found that each time I went back to the same clubs every month people were really not all that into the training and it was becoming easy to forget and as an extension the food safety audit scores in these stores were falling.

You might want to try this - I got the company I worked with to give me a selection of imprinted items such as pens, writing pads, keychains, etc and we began giving these items (one at a time) to the people that instituted all the required (and more so) food safety items into their daily routine, sometimes we did a quick quiz etc.

Those pens and keychains became prized possessions to the winners of them making their minimal cost well worth it because food safety improved dramatically in each club and the employees even made up their own training modules each month.

It was a win-win for everyone and it was rolled out throughout the system.

If you are looking for a way to make your training talks standout this could be a great way.
