Hi Everyone!

Plugging along in preparation for our first SQF audit in June and I'm at a loss about how to document some of the items in module 11.

Thus far, most of my documentation has been in the format of a policy or procedure, but those formats don't seem to make sense for things like 11.1 Site Location and Construction and 11.2 Construction of Premises and Equipment, etc.

Just looking for some ideas as to how (or if?) I need to document this or if this if more of a visual check during the audit?

Thank you!

Jen

Go through the module 11 guidance and read the "how to audit" sections. many of them are by inspection of your facility. Most of my module 11 support paperwork are in monthly walkthroughs to check on maintenance etc.

The way I've handled it at our facility is to include those sections (11.1, 11.2, etc.) in our Quality Manual and pretty much re-state what the SQF Code requires. Even though you're literally just writing what the SQF code requires, it's not enough to just prove it, you have to show that your policies/procedures require it first and then it's proved simply by a visual inspection of the auditor. Don't over think it. We've been through several audits this way and it's never been questioned.

Our documents for sections like that are literally just a few sentences long.

There are some sections of 11 where you should have a record. I have policies and procedures mostly for module 2 and polices along with SOPs and records for module 11. Whenever possible i have referenced the records and sops inside policies

Are you not covered under any other food sector then? What do you make?

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.  It's a good reminder not to overthink this!  We are a yogurt manufacturer under FSC 10.
