Hi,

I am writing SOP for color code in my plant. It is confectionery. Can we have anything color coded for dripping equipment or condensation. We have separate color code for floor and drains.

 

As per old SOP we had one color code for condensation and equipment drips.

Never encountered colour specific floors and drains. Why so ?

 

Not sure what you mean by dripping equipment and condensation equipment ? Special equipment for confectionery ?

 

Or do you mean in a Flowchart ?

We have color code for drain and floor. Can I assign another color for any condensation if it is accruing?

Yes, do not use floor/drain colours on overhead structures as you could/would be creating more of a problem than solution (e.g. spreading listeria from drains to overheads). As a matter of fact NOTHING that touches the floor should be used anywhere else.

 

 

If you find that you do have condensation occurring (and not a one off) you need to address the source and fix the problem.

I am noticing is more dripping and condensation. Can I use two different color code ? One for drain and one for condensation.

i'm guessing with confections that they plant is climate controlled. It sounds like you are suffering from either too big a difference in ambient air vs contents of pipes or not enough air movement.

 

YES, make them differently

 

Black or grey for floors, white for food contact, blue for ice/water, stainless scoops/paddles and green or red for condensation/drips

 

I urge you to figure out the condensation issue, you're making RTE i'm assuming and you cannot afford to have 'dirty' water dripping on the food or food contact surfaces

We are not making RTE food. Yes we do have condensation because of temperature and Air issues. Dripping under line. We have black for drain. I can use different color for condensation. Dripping is not on wall or anything .It is under line.

why do you want to both at all then? I'm sorry i thought you meant overhead

 

If it's not accumulating on the floor, and floor slopes toward a floor drain, I wouldn't bother honestly

 

 

but if it is accumulating and posing a problem, my answer is still YES DIFFERENT colour
