Does anyone know how to convert colour reading from % Transmission, using a cecil spectrophotometer at 530nm, to EBC at 530nm.

We currently use the %Transmission method, but we have had a customer asking us for a quote and the colour is stated in EBC.

None of the research associations seem to have a clue, so I'm hoping someone out there can help!

Nadine,

Sorry no idea :uhm:

Perhaps it would be good to ask the potential customer to actually specify what EBC is. If you find out let us know.

I have had similar 'odd' specs in the past and when questioned (politely of course0 it transpires the spec was 'created' by the customer and is really something quite normal.

Chris

Is this EBC the one you are looking for ?

EBC instrument would be the one, but as this customer will not be that big, we didn't really want to buy all the kit for testing it, thought there might be a calculation for converting as they both use the same wavelength (Blonde logic)

Nadine.

Nadine.

Blonde logic ?

Beer colour is measured by EBC because of uncertainties due to turbidity and CO2 bubbles, hence I doubt there's a relationship with T%.
