Follow the link below for some examples of UK court cases involving food. The cases are quite old now; however, they highlight the importance of a well developed and implemented HACCP plan.

Make sure you check out the Contaminated Breakfast Cereal and the Earwig in Bottle of Milk cases.

With WTO coming through next year, the impact of HACCP as a requirement for the international food trades remains to be further assessed. However, consumers would certainly be more aware of food safety issues as we move forward.

Some of the court cases that have appeared on the "link" as provided by Simon appear to be lacking in precedent cases for legal judgements to be made by the respective judges. However, as more legal test cases become apparent globally, the line of judgment too become more clear.

In an of event of legal contest, would your recording of verification activities and the validations that we set for our critical limits stands to test the legal implications that may just prevail against our need to proof that we indeed have a valid food safety program. Does your record-keeping show that you have total control of whst you do or supposed to do.

One of the cases (Milk Product) as outlined indicated that there was a loss of control of their Haccp program. The set that was given to the food inspector for their desk-audit was different fron the set that was given for site-audit

Should we be worried about these serious implications that are coming ahead?
