Upon implementation of BRC/IOP requirments in Israel, some of standard's requirments are difficult to fullfil as written.
One of them is the Hand hygene requirement, that minor injuries such as cuts shall be covered with waterproof blue self adhesive plasters incorporating a metal strip.
Although we can agree at least with part of the instructions (like waterproof requirment) and can dispute with others (why blue ?), we could not locate a source of supply for these specific plasters.
Can anyone help in this direction ? I would like also to read your thoughts.
Tks for cooperation,
moshes :)

Hi Moshes,

Blue Metal Detectable Plasters are standard issue within the UK food industry, perhaps UK should stand for 'Unbelievably Keen'.

The metal detectable strip is easy to explain - a growing number of food producers carry out metal detection of finished product as part of their HACCP programmes and the small metal strip in the plaster allows the plaster to be identified during this process.

The colour thing is simply to enhance visual identification "have you ever seen blue food?" Probably not too often. I know a lot of food producers ask for their ingredients or packaging to be packed in blue blister packs or blue plastic bags. If an operator sees blue he knows it shouldn't be there.

Blue metal detectable plasters are widely available in the UK if you know where to look. I've put links to a couple of websites below. If you want to purchase some plasters and cannot get them yourself send me a PM and I'll try and help you.
