Hi All,

Is there anybody who has experience with the implementation of Regulation 2023/2006, GMP for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
I am interested mainly in the annex that is about inks.

Some questions:

How do you controll ink off set to the food contact side of the material?
How do you check this as a buyer of printed packaging materials?

It's a good subject.

Some questions:

How do you controll ink off set to the food contact side of the material?
How do you check this as a buyer of printed packaging materials?

I think for question 1 you have to make sure the ink is fully dried or cured. Obviously. If you want to go into detail then we can discuss.

I think for question 2 - the answer is you cannot. Unless you 100% inspect or you are very lucky. As buyer you must work very closely with your supplier to ensure they have bullet proof QA/GMP procedures to prevent ink set off. Because you know it's against the law in the EU.

as your packaging suppier to provide you with a migration certificate.

they should be testing their plastics / inks to ensure they comply with legislation (cant remember the number off hand)
