Hello everyone!

I am a Food Safety Specialist from the Philippines and our company is an Instant Noodle and Biscuit Manufacturing company. We are currently in the process of integrating our ISO9001 system with that of HACCP to form a good FSMS.

The different departments have already done their HACCP Plans and every department has been reviewed by QA already. We need to do document audit however on each area. The audit would be internal as all the auditors would be from QA.

Could anyone suggest a good checklist regarding auditing documentation for ISO22000?
And lastly, wouldn't it be an issue if all the auditors were from QA? Who should audit QA then?

I would be thankful for any feedback regarding my queries.

This network has been alot of help lately...Kudos to everyone!

Hi Althene,
If you are integrating ISO 9001 with your HACCP Plan, you are basically upgrading your ISO 9001 to the requirements under ISO 15161 as expected out of a food processing entity. As such, I believe the requirements under ISO 22000 requires you to do much more.

On the audit aspect, I would not draw you to the respective ISO but essentially there is no specific audit checklist however the process approach is expected to be used otherwise it would tend become too mechainical like BRC-Food.

Thank you Mr. Chew.

I have already made draft of the document audit checklist report that we used during our in-house internal audit.

I have attached the said document. I need anyone's help to critique it if there is still anything we need to add, remove, or had missed out.

Hi Althene,
I like your approach but most of the requirements under the ISO 22000:2005 standard had been ommitted. You did mention issues on regulatory requirements but by and large, it has wider implications over several areas such as allergens etc. BTW, the using of SOPs and SSOPs are no longer applicable in this standard.

hi charles!
thank you for going over the checklist that i made.

i would like to ask though, why is it that the use of SOPs and SSOPs are no longer applicable in the ISO22000 standard?

isn't it a pre-requisite requirement?

Hello Althene,
ISO 22000 through clauses 7.2.2 and 7.2.3 require to establish and document PRPs and OPRPs for implementation (in essence it is part of the pre-requisite requirement as you had mentioned)

The checklist should assist you in your documentation audit while you should have an audit plan for your implementation assessment (preferably based on a process approach)

All the best.

Hi Althene

I am trying to download a copy of the 22000 audit checklist and unfortunately it wont allow me to do this.

Would you be so kind to email a copy please.

This would be most appreciated as I have been tasked to carry out an audit and this would give me a great baseline.

Thanking you in advance.

Kind regards
Andrea

Dear All,

981 downloads of the above document so far. Amazing.

Since, AFAIK, no other ISO 22000 changes / additions have been made in last 5 years, I presume doc. still fully valid.

Out of curiosity, i compared the excel content to that in 2nd doc.(ex auditor website) of a post I put up in 2009 (link below). The latter's minimum requirement is much reduced but the allowance for expansion is left "floating" as per the specific requirements of the organisation.
