Dear anilsasi,

Theoretically, the difference is a result of the meaning of the extra "S" in SSOP. SOP is a more generalised term, eg see this link -

http://www.dhs.ca.go.....ce/IA SOP.htm

Expanded interpretations of SSOP also exist, eg

http://www.ces.purdu.../fs/fs-21-w.pdf

The USA / FDA have, from memory a "Big 6" for seafood, control of water, pests, cleaning, etc

Rgds / Charles.C

added - correction, probably shud be "Big 8"

Kind Regards,

Good stuff Charles  .

Any food industry can nicely use this material to create its own SOP and/or SSOP by simple modification.

By the way, IMHO, there was no need to introduce a new term/document SSOP. It has just created an additional confusion for documentation purpose.

And of course, we the people who are connected with the field of documentation and management systems will have to face an another blame of inclusion of a new document along with PRP, OPRP, SOP,.......... ).

Dear Zeeshan,

Greetings

SSOPs are specific to sanitation procedures. Documented SSOPs are regulatory requirements in some of the countries including USA.

Further more two types of SSOPs Operational and Pre-Operational.

I think SOPs may be not be part of regulatory requirements.
