We couldn’t let such a great sporting event take place without holding one of our legendary competitions. Winner will get a soccer shirt (or alternative prize of choice to similar cost).

Simply download the attached entry form and follow the instructions.

Use this thread to ask question related to the competition and we can also use this thread to discuss the world cup as it progresses.

Best Wishes,

England total rubbish as usual. Why can't we pass the ball to each other along the floor like all of the other teams?

I like South Korea.

Has anyone else been watching?

England surely must beat Algeria.

I'm taking to quoting myself.

Anyway they surely cannot beat Algeria. England are perhaps the poorest side I have seen in the world cup so far. They have some good players, most are quite fit and no doubt they are proud to play for their country and would dearly love to win the world cup. So I blame the coach - Capello. His motivation skills and tactics are clearly not working, they must change for the final group game against Slovenia or we our out. That would be embarrasing as winning the group easily was considered a formality before the competition started. Maybe that's the problem...

BTW is there only me interested in the world cup?

Dear Simon,

Basically, the luck ran out. And this ball is a joker IMO (don't think I hv seen one gaol direct from a free kick).

By half-time the whole team looked as though they had given up except maybe for the keeper. Capelloo's face did hv a slight touch of disbelief but then it's hardly a new experience to the regular watchers? Rooney simply looked as though he felt abandoned.

Maybe it's a pity you can't put yr mascot onto the pitch.

Maybe it's a French disease.

Just now watching Australia doing their best to self - implode.

First sign of madness. Posted Image

Mind you supporting England sometimes seems like madness!

Apparently England are playing too badly to go out. The logic being we usually improve, play well, have someone sent off and then lose on penalties.

Have been impressed with the South Americans generally but seem to think the best starters aren't always the winners.

I would still stick with Spain as the winners although if they come 2nd in their group a clash with Brazil in the next round would be tough but a fabulous spectacle.

Double Phew! USA through and top of the group with the last kick of the game - they deserve it, they both do.

Fell asleep in second half when every England pass seemed to be overhit. I guess the game illustrated "how to ride your luck".

A little statistic -

Defoe - whole game - total shots at gaol = 3, total shots on gaol = 2, goals = 1

To retain or not to retain, that will be the question ?
(diminutive size vs naturally clumsy vs tower of Pisa)

Personally I thought Slovenia deserved to progress as well, even though they seemed to out-scythe England about 2:1.

Es ist nach Hause kommen, ist es nach Hause zu kommen, Fußbälle coming home!

I was listening to the radio this morning and a hard nosed Irish punter was telling howw much he had won on England...doing badly. He had 18,000 euro on England not winning the world cup, 2,000 euro on England to draw with USA and Algeria and a large bet on Germany beating England. A case of using reason over emotion.

Once England were knocked out of the tournament I supported Holland as I have a lot of friends and colleagues over there and I fondly remember 1974 and 1978 when Holland were the uncrowned masters of the beautiful game.

In the final last night I supported Holland, but in the end I was glad that Spain won. It was a triumph of skill over brute force; it was also a triumph for football.

In my opinion it would have been bad for the game if Holland would have won in that manner as it would encourage this approach in the future. I believe it would also be bad for Dutch football in the long term. I am all for strength and energy, but over the past few games Holland have been dangerous and dirty.
Viva Espana!

By the way I will collate the scores for the completion and announce the winner in the next day or so.

Regards,
Simon

I would like to add here, that I guessed who will make a final goal.
I love Spain and hoped they'll win. I liked Iniesta because his name reminds my name... Before the final game I said- Iniesta must be the one to become a hero, and he did!!! Posted Image
