Hi Guys,

I have searched high and low for the answer to this question but my apologies if I have just been looking in the wrong places!

Does anyone know what UK (or EU) law says about the provision of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for food ingredients. I'm thinking particularly starches and flours which are not hazardous as a food substance however I guess could be classed as hazardous in clouds?

We currently have MSDS's but they do not all state explosion info and temperatures etc. - are these required?

Cheers,

Matt

I experienced something similar a few years back. A customer asked me for a MSDS for SMP powder. This wasn't something that was readily available, so i designed one myself (well, we were making the damn stuff!), taking such facts as explosive data from the manufacturers guidelines.
I was acctually sent a copy of my MSDS from a supplier recently (only the company logo had changed), so it seems to have stood the test of time!

If you do go down this route, make sure you follow the official template for MSDS

Caz x

Thanks Caz,

If the manufacturer does not have the explosive information then is it down to us to test it, or do we have a legal right to ask them to have it tested regardless of the price?
