We have not done any chemical migration studies on packaging but we monitor our packaging by: (1) Sending out packaging supplier questionnaires that inquires about the quality and safety programs they have in place; (2) asking them to provide us with a product guarantee, and (3) perform quarterly swabs on all of our different food-packaging types to verify the packaging is sanitary.

Can you clarify whether you mean migration studies of the food contact side of packaging to ensure it meets applicable food contact regulations or migration of printing inks to food either by migration through the packaging or from ink transfer (e.g from winding) from the non food contact side of the packaging to the food contact side. The two are very different.

Simon
