This is my first post here so wasn't sure which heading should this post fall under, apologies for that.

 

I am working in a tissue paper making industry. I need help with validating control measures.

 

Hazard: The tissue reels brought for processing via hydaulic trolleys can contiminate the outer layer of the reel.

Control Measure: The first few layers of the tissue reel are removed when the reel is installed on the processing machine

 

How can I validate this?

 

Similarly we also have a paper cup processing line.

 

Process: Water application on the skillets

Hazard: Contaminants in the water can stick to the skillets

Control Measure: Water is changed in every shift and an annual water test is conducted

 

How can this control measure be validated.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

what kind of contamination on the outer layer? oil or micro?

supposed you have to deliberately put oil/contaminant  on outer layer and you can check how many layers you have to removed

The reel can get contaminated with if the wrapping of the reel is torn and it gets in contact with the trolley.

Reel contamination - You say it ca get contaminated in case it is torn. So you would validate the number of layers you need to remove to make it safe or put it better you need to show that removing x number of layers males the reel safe. So carry out your testings removing 1 layer, 2 layers and show removing these many layers is good enough. Incorporate that into your production process.

 

Same goes for second situation. Show with your testings that changing water at this frequency does not add any contamination to the cups.

Dear Hadi,

 

As you can see from previous posts the generic procedure for control of a hazard is -

 

(a) Identify the hazard

(b) propose a control measure (assuming one does not exist or is considered inadequate)

© obtain evidence that the proposed control measure adequately controls the hazard = validation

(The evidence can come, for example, from yr own pilot trial, or published procedures/data, etc.)

 

In haccp practice, it is usual to add an intermediate step to assess the probable risk due to the hazard, ie  to determine  the necessity or otherwise of controlling the hazard. In yr case this has (implicitly) already been done > significant risk.
