Does not include food safety in scores. ...

http://www.ewg.org/foodscores

I wish people would be concerned about QA and Food Safety enough to put a big numbered score on packaging... this is the second home-grown system that I've seen recently that puts processing / non-GMO / other non-health related issues up as something for rich people to be concerned about

I know what you mean.  I have seen plants that are sooo scary.  Trouble is that scores are often so meaningless.  I saw a plant that was well run but their documentation and system truly well....lets be honest it sucked.  Yet it had repeatedly gotten high scores from several auditors, when it should have never passed....it didn't meet the standard.  So in the end....what does it all mean?

Okay I'll get off my soap box now.

Raw milk - all natural!  Not processed by the greedy corporate dairies. Good for you!  May contain harmful or deadly bacteria but we won't mention that.

I drank raw milk for many years and loved it.  Never had a problem.  There was a dairy in Southern California,  Alta Dena that would sell it.  It wasn't cheap, but was worth every penny.  Know many people who drink it right from the cow.

That's the scariest thing about raw milk  - you think it's all safe for years and years, and people actively want to buy it for your family because media is saying that processing is dangerous or somehow unnatural (as though drinking another animal's milk as adults is totally cool with nature), and then ....

http://www.foodsafet...y/#.VFqbDhY3fFk

One of the moms interviewed said on facebook (def a reliable source) "It is true that we drank it for years with no problem. But that's just it. You can drink uncontaminated milk for nine years with no problem. And then on year nine, day one - you get one jar of contaminated milk and one or two kiddos in your house can't handle it. It WAS the raw milk. You won't hear that from the local food clubs (or maybe even the local news sources)…..” from  http://thecompletepa...icken-5-ky-kids

I'm a pretty big fan of food technology -being able to pasteurize,  being able to can things, being able to process things, being able to have food that doesn't rot or can be frozen.  If I were religious, I'd say the ability we have to now distribute safe food to a huge range of people and locations is a miracle given to human kind to allow us to prosper.  Yes, canned food tastes different than fresh food.  Yes, frozen food tastes different, and sure, it's possible raw milk or raw beef is better tasting without processing... but the lack of complete deliciousness is acceptable to me if it means I won't die from it.

I did not have kids at the time and would not have let them drink it based on their size.  However the dairy had very strict standards and it went through many rigors before being sold.  Most of the people I know drinking it out of the cow again have strong controls on their environment.

Canned food was really safe there for awhile....This has never been a safe planet and never will be......

We all choose different risks.

Oh, yeah, that's why I can't be a parent.  I would be overwhelmed by all the information - wherever to take them to school, where to raise them, what's gonna be best for them, what to feed them.  I would never judge a parent on the choices they make for their kids, it's probably crazy hard and nerve wracking.

Ha! Tell me about it, I smoke! :gitane: .  I guess I would be more comfortable with it if it was advertised as "XTREME hardcore raw mylk with ATTITUDE not recommended for children, pregnant women, or the elderly" instead of "if you don't drink this you'll probably die from cancer induced by chemicals/processing".. I equate it to the vaccine/autism debacle in my mind.

Ah at least you won't have to deal with Common Core which should be called "insane crap" how not to teach anyone! We wonder why our kids can't keep up, because they want to use this crazy sh$t that I with an education in science and math can't use and is confusing as all get out...and then we spend all the class testing them or teaching to the test.  God help them if they can't take the test at the speed of light.   Heaven forbid they should actually learn something they can use and learn like critical thinking.  Okay I will stop now.

Yes, I do understand....you can have my chocolate when you pry it from my cold, dead hands....maybe.  I  have to laugh as I find those advocating to not get vaccines as the "natural" approach and homeopathic remedies are better, when that is where vaccines originated.  There is a place for both forms of medicine.
