Good afternoon.... I feel sure that this topic has been addressed previously, but I have gone through the forums and can not find the topic.  If anyone could direct me to the information I would be ever so grateful. Apologies for the redundancy....

We have several machines (Slicers, Choppers, Dicers, Shredders) that need adjustments made during the production process to meet product specifications (ie blade changes, sizing or film type changes).  The Machine Operators make the required adjustments / changes to the their machines and the equipment receives the appropriate sanitation activities between these adjustments.  Tools are required to make these adjustment / changes, the tools are "in theory" assigned to each machine and are not interchangeable.  I am having a difficult time with finding / determining appropriate storage options within the Production Area for these tools.  Any ideas or direction from the members would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Here is what the chicen proessing plant I worked at did for all their tools for changing blades or making adjustments or repairs. Each shift machine operator was given their own set of tools that had an accountability sheet that was to be tuned in at the end of each shift, (ie you starte with 10 tools and ended with 10 tools). They were stored during production in hand held caddies that we added 1/4in SS "legs" to about 3-4inch long so they would not sit on the floor.  Holes were also drilled in the bottom so water could drain. We had a commerial style Hobart dish washer that the whole caddy & tools went into before your shift and after your shift (there was a sign off on the accountability sheet). You could use normal sinks for this too.

Depending on the number and type tools needed I have seen them welded on chains to the piece of eqiupmentand washed as the eqiupment is washed.  I would still make some kind of check that they were in place at the start and end of thier shift.

Have any other ideas I'm all ears!

Thanks for your input and direction!  I am following your suggestion of a SS caddies, we have a Pasteurization system that we use in another Department, that we will use to sanitize the equipment after each shift.  Thanks again for pointing me in that direction.....
