I have to recommend NSF, I have dealt with both NSF-GFTC here in Canada (HACCP and SQF) & NSF-CMI out of the UK (BRC) and found their staff very knowledgeable. They can have their staff come and do training on site (for a fee) but are very thorough.

I like FSQN (Food Safety Quality Network) in Chicago.  It's a neat place.  They have their own facility and they're building a pilot plant that will eventually be used, among other things, to enhance their training classes.

However, the last time I was there, one of their trainers was...well...not very good.  I think they tried to squeeze in too much training during the week that by the end of the week they were worn out and did not do as much worthwhile teaching as they could have.  But I'll call them more hit than miss, some of the best training you will find but also some meh, depending on who's teaching and how much sleep they've had.

I was looking at FSQN and was hoping to find something closer. Good to hear that for the most part they are good.

I apologize, I misspoke.  It is Food Safety Quality Systems, not Network.

I believe SAI Global offers online training in both HACCP and SQF.

We here at the IFSQN ran a great live HACCP training webinar late last year and it is now available on demand.

I need to be re-certified since it has been a while since I have been in the industry.

for HACCP i used AIB and for SQF I used Alchemy,

for me the HACCP training was horrible but only because I work in food packaging and the online training was food production based so it didnt really apply to me but it got me certified.

I found the SQF to be a piece of cake.

Heres a little FYI, instead of paying the $700 for the SQF training, I just downloaded the SQF Code .pdf and studied it cover to cover until I felt comfortable with it, then paid the $75. to take the exam. passed it on the first try, got certified and saved my self $700.

I dont understand why not, I took the online training and got the certificate in the mail about a week after I passed all the exams.

Per AIB

Hi Scott,

The online course does not certify you. You will receive a certificate of completion. This means you have been trained in how HACCP works and you can help others in you company understand HACCP.

Thanks,

I've found that going to a classroom full of peers and discussion to be very helpful beyond learning principles of the code.  But if money is tight, this method will work splendidly.

I think I've seen HACCP courses in both Indianapolis and Columbus which is closer than Chicago if you need/want the classroom - just depends on how soon.  I have a customer of a customer who requires HACCP training every five years with the initial training being *classroom*.  My cert is more than five years ago so I am going to knock it out with the IFSQN.  Price is very reasonable and beats the $1200 it would cost me to go to Chicago on Tuesday:

Simon

I am new to Food Safety (BRC Packaging)

I need to start from step one - I have downloaded the standard and every document that seems to be relevant

looking for online training - BRC packaging and HACCP (it seems ideal that both would be introduction and certification promoting)

I was not able to open the above link

any help is greatly appreciated

thank you very much

Rob

Hi Pontiac,

Alchemy does good training if you want to go online.

Just get some documentation (does not need to be a "certification") to prove that you have met the 2.1.2.5 requirement of a HACCP training course.

@ rob haynes - maybe try the "store" drop-down menu for ifsqn packages

Kind Regards,
