Hi Everyone,

The information I'm getting in this forum are all very helpful.

I just recently joined a Food Packaging company and am working on our Quality System. The company did not renew its ISO certification for years and the quality system eventually died. I was lucky to find the remains of the OLD ISO 9001:2008 documents but it's not complete, just about 80% of it.

We aim to revive the QMS and establish other systems (not in place) as required by our clients. I deemed it is best to upgrade to ISO 9001:2015 version but our customers also requires us to have the following aside from ISO:

- HACCP

- HALAL

- GFSI (I am looking at BRC as reference)

I was thinking of integrating all these systems to make one complete QMS. I just don't know how to make it and how to begin as there are too many systems? I also don't know the downside of integrating them. I am gearing to begin but the lack of knowledge stops me.

Would appreciate your inputs and document references to share.

Thank you.

Randy

Dear Randy,

In your case, I would start to build a cross-reference table and workout all the standards into it.

After having done that, I start from zero, building up the quality system again. Start from zero, because otherwise you will find yourself later with a lot of non-conformities on the old documents. Take the approach of a new system, making use of the process owners, who will be involved into the quality system again. You need the company direction to support you and on the other hand you will need to advise them of the importance of quality management.

I wish you a lot of positive energy!

Kind regards,

Gerard

Hi Randy,

Personally i would avoid this combination project until you are familiar with the individual intended components.

There are examples in the "integration thread" linked below of a Food manual combining iso9001/BRC5-HACCP (eg posts 6,10). The BRC content should itself cover most, if not all, of the material from Codex Food Haccp.

http://www.ifsqn.com...f-and-iso-9001/

Detailed Cross-matrices between iso9001/BRC requirements also exist here for Food (ca 3-5 years old) but maybe not for Packaging.

Unfortunately, afaik, there is no specific Packaging equivalent to "Codex Food haccp" so the former varies according to the chosen Packaging Standard although most (bar iso-haccp) are sort of extensions of Codex logic as far as Safety is concerned.

I wish you Luck if you pursue the integration. And maybe paracetamol.

Kind Regards,

Charles.C
