How can product quality assessment be represented statistically? E.g, out of 8 pallets of a particular product produced in an 8 hours shift, how can the quality of this product be represented statistically?

Dear James,

It's important to make clear definitions, before applying statistical analyses:

  • Your process needs to be controlled and it's necessary to know what parameters are already measured
  • The quality of the particular product has to be well defined
  • The product sampling method needs to be well described (and followed)

Kind regards,

Gerard Heerkens

I interpret "represent" as "estimate". I assume a random sample.

The simplest answer is by the Average Value plus  a confidence level.

Not so easy if it's smell of course.

Also see this post whose middle file has many examples of "quality" -
