Hi,

Does anyone know where I can find a list of pesticides banned by the FDA?

I've read that carbendazim (also known as MBC, or methyl 2-benzimidazoyl carbamate) was banned by FDA. That is, totally prohibited. However, I can't found and oficial source in FDA nor EPA websites about banned pesticides in USA.

I found that carbendazim (MBC) is listed in 40 CFR 180 "Tolerances and exemptions for pesticide chemical residues in food", where tolerances has been set for some commodities. But, I'm particularly interested in the permitted level of this pesticide in a fruit drink. If this item does not figure in the tolerances list, can I assume that it is prohibited in this food? If so, which level of residue (ppm or ppb) would be enough to be detected in food and rejected?

I would really appreciate it if somebody could share some experience on this topic :welcome:  .

Hello Psych,

Indeed, when it doesn't appear on the "tolerance and exemptions" list it's prohibited. My advice is to ensure that the mentioned pesticide is absent in your supply chain. Otherwise you may encounter difficulties in the future.

Kind regards,

The EPA lists it as under review

https://iaspub.epa.g...:\carbendazim \,

This is the only information from the FDA I could find

https://www.fda.gov/...s/ucm114655.pdf

Or it would appear this list (you need to create an account to access the database) BUT I could not find that chemical---when i searched FDA, it led me to this website as the new MRL list to use

https://globalmrl.com/home/

Here's Canada's MRL for this pesticide
