Hi All,

We are facing the flies issues in our facility, we are producing burgers and vegetable shredding units in same facility .  In raining session, we are facing too much trouble due increasing the flies.  the following steps already done.

Glue fly traps, ILT, electrical flies traps and daily internal fumigation Out side of the facility.

Moreoverfogging can be possible in processing area as food safety guidelines with preventive measures like cleaning and sanitation program to eradicate risk of chemical.

Anyone share experience for better improvement.

Regards,

Ashfaq Hussain

Do you have any of these inside or in surrounding areas?

  • Garbage cans left uncovered.
  • Dead animals
  • Manure around
  • Fermenting fruits
  • Spilled juices.
  • Unclean drains

These generally attract flies.. Make sure you screen your doors and windows as well.

Dear, Ashfaq.

First of, you may want to check your pest barriers in you facility. Are they respected? Since you already have data from you glue traps, you already know to which of the entrances you have the highest count (you may have several entrances). You may want to start from there. Second thing, you may want to review your cleaning schemes if they are effective as generally, they will be attract in unsanitary condition.

Lastly, do you have pest control provider? suggest you work with them for a plant risk assessment. Other issues might be is that what you have installed are not effective for attracting flies (as ILTs are generally for monitoring)

Thanks

Hi Ashfaq,

the traps won't help if the flies keep coming in... Is the facility well closed, without possible entrance (also through sewers and ventilation)? Are the doors and windows kept closed at all times?

Best regards,

Pauline
