Hi Many of our staff are Hindu and wear Raksha Bandhan on the wrists (beaded bracelets.) they refuse to remove them in the production area, as it signifies a bond between them and a loved one.

Ours is an enclosed process producing poly bags for food contact. Staff don't actually touch product at any stage.

So far I have risk assessed this to show an auditor that we have assessed the issue has anybody any further ideas, will an auditor accept a risk assessment as enough?

:welcome: to the forums.

It can vary depending on the type of auditor and standard that you are following, however, IMO it is a physical hazard that is being introduced into your production area and despite having an enclosed process, it can be difficult to protect your product from contamination of pieces of Beads and to satisfy the auditor.

This is something similar to employees wearing jewelry and has been discussed in the forums before. Here is one of the discussions on a related topic:

What is your GMP'S for employees?

If it says no loose stuff, bracelects etc and your facility is set up in such a way that bracelets can pose an injury issue no amount of risk assessments are going to matter. Seriously - if you wanna work here take off the bracelet.

Not to get into full details but I wear teezits off of my belt loops but when I walk thru a facility they get taken off.

Thanks For the replies, what doesn't help is that the owner of the Raksha Bandhan is also the owner of the company, guess I can show the auditor that it has been addressed, if we do get a CAR on this matter then it will because the advice was ignored. That is all I can do in this situation. Fortunately the product is packing and not touched by production staff.
