My boss said that to developed a SQF food safety plan all I need is to copy and paste the requirements.
What do you guys think about his point of view??????????

Well, copy and paste is a good idea....however, you still need to follow what is written.  Be careful about the copy job that you can't uphold.

That surly will not cover your facility.. You will need write your own food safety plan. You can most certainly use templates to help you out, but the information must be yours.

 

I believe what you may of meant is the SQF code itself could be added in some fashion to your SOP's/ Policies/ Procedures and then in those SOP's you could add how your conforming to those requirements, verifying them and so on, but simply copy and pasting will not work.

It can be an start point, however as other has indicated you must need to make sure copy and paste is fitting to your business / facility and scope of operations.

You must need to tailor that copy and paste with your business requirements, however you will feel at the end, you could start fresh from scratch and all this activity will not make you and your boss proud.

Is your boss proficient in writing a food safety plan, has he/she done this from scratch 100 times and never had an issue?

 

Time to find a new employer

 

FYI records that are generated are legally binding (not programs or the like) so anything you put your name on binds you as well...........food for thought

Dear Carmelo,

 

You were hired you to do this task. So there's a need of more respect for your competences and the space to play your role. Otherwise, it will be impossible to implement a certifiable SQF system.

 

It isn't fair to dictate you to build a bad system and then blame you that the system you implemented isn't good.

 

Templates can be helpful, but they need to adapted to your business. And indeed, that costs a lot of time.

Carmelo - I would recommend the ifsqn package to get you started. How do you get your boss to put it in the budget? You tell him it will take months on your own to put together what will take weeks with the assistance of the ifsqn package. In the end it is a huge time saver and stress reliever = money well spent. I also think you will find it less of a daunting task once you have the package in your hands. It will still require being tailored to your facility but most of the language is there. The disconnect that your boss has is familiar to many. Not having senior management support keeps you lost and wondering. Consider the task at hand as paid on the job training - learn as you go - you will become a valuable asset to your company (or to another where food safety is a concern).

The SQF requirements tell you WHAT you need to do.  You have to write HOW you do it, and have records to SHOW that you did it.
