It is close to our annual audit, we are a very small manufacturing company, I hear on the 'grapevine' that auditors are looking for companies to pre-plan in the eventuality of 'non-trading agreements' with the EU, we do not import anything so my view on this would be rather limiting, but.... like all previous audits, we get silly non-conformities and it would be nice to get none...

I'm not sure what auditors are expecting to see on this!

We keep getting similar questions from customers, but it's not clear how we are supposed to know any more than they or anyone else does about what will actually happen, i.e. we're all completely in the dark still...

If it's auditors from your customers then they may have been given the unfortunate task of trying to get info on suppliers' planning for Brexit.

In terms of regulatory / food safety, it's anyone's guess as we don't know what the regulatory environment is going to be. If you're not importing anything then your position is simpler than most, but I guess if you feel the need to have something to show in case it comes up then you could simply document a really basic risk assessment showing that you don't really have any exposure here.

You may have seen the various technical notices published by the government on "no deal" preparations so you could reference this just as a "we've read it just in case" thing.

I suggest you respond to queries with "everyone is waiting for the next kick of the can".

"Silly" may be subjective of course.

Kind Regards,
